SJ Earthquakes Volunteer at Starbird Youth Center

Brad Ring and the Quakes staff opened the refurbished "homework room" at Starbird.

Brad Ring and the Quakes staff opened the refurbished Starbird Youth Center on Tues., Dec. 18 to the delight of the greater South San Jose community. Located at 1050 Boynton Ave, San Jose, Starbird Youth Center's mission is to help at-risk youth in San Jose through a core values system.

Starbird Youth Center had recently met challenges financing the facility and were eager to have the Earthquakes as their partner. Quakes players and staff built furniture and provided new school supplies to improve the youth center's state. Through their "Good Choices Program", Starbird offers a spectrum of services aimed at engaging youth in arts, literacy improvements, environmental-awareness, and homework help.

Once funded entirely by the City of San Jose, Starbird Youth Center now seeks donations to maintain the youth center's mission as it continues to reach out to and be a safe place for at-risk youth in the greater San Jose area. To learn more and to give to Starbird Youth Center, please click here.
